Dental infection

Dental infection is inflammation of the teeth caused by bacteria, which can cause various complaints. This condition is also known as a tooth abscess, which is characterized by the formation of a cavity filled with pus in the tooth.  Tooth infections can occur in anyone, including children and adults. Some symptoms that can arise due to a tooth infection include: Toothache that feels throbbing, Sensitive teeth, Swelling of the cheek or face, Pain that spreads to the neck and ears.

Dental infections can be caused by bacteria that come from cavities that are not treated properly. If not treated properly, a tooth infection can spread to the jaw, neck, or even internal organs.

To prevent tooth infections, you can do the following things:

  1. Brushing your teeth regularly, at least 2 minutes, 2 times a day
  2. Clean between the teeth with dental floss
  3. Reduce foods that contain sugar

To diagnose a tooth abscess, the dentist will carry out a physical examination, such as checking the condition of the teeth and gums, and asking about the symptoms experienced. The doctor can also perform an X-ray or CT scan to find out how serious the infection is.
